One of the beautiful parts about playing games online is the anonymity of it. It brings together people of all ages, backgrounds, and geographic locations over nothing more than the love of a game. Of course, this can also be frustrating when you have someone that is clearly half your age absolutely destroying you and letting you hear about it.

If you were able to see the people you played video games against, it would certainly be satisfying to see them react to you defeating them. It would be even more satisfying if that person were Patrik Laine or Aleksander Barkov.

Or both.

According to Matthew DeFranks of the Sun Sentinel, Laine discussed how Barkov and him often play Call of Duty online. The two struck up a friendship after playing for their native Finland together, and before you knew it they were locking and loading in the virtual world. While Florida and Winnipeg are not very close together, the game ensures that they have fairly regular communication.

While we aren’t sure who would win in a 1 vs. 1 battle in Nuketown yet, the Florida Panthers did manage to get the better of the Winnipeg Jets this evening. We'll see if the two decide to fire up their gaming tonight, according to Laine it's not to hard to get into a game with Barkov,

"He's always online," Laine told DeFranks. "I usually don't have to shoot him a text."
