When you’re playing as many minutes as Thomas Chabot has been racking up this season, you’ve got to do whatever it takes to stay in game shape.
Even if it means losing a crazy amount of weight.
Heading into tonight’s affair against the Nashville Predators, the second-year defender was averaging a ridiculous 24:19 minutes compared to just 17:31 from the year before. The increase in time has done wonders for Chabot, who shares the lead league in points with Morgan Rielly at 33, but it’s caused a slight difference to his body during gameplay. The 21-year-old admitted that he can lose up to six pounds of weight in fluids during a game.
Talk about commitment to the craft!
It definitely makes sense considering the minutes he’s logging in, however, we usually hear about athletes losing weight ahead of their actual matchup. Take UFC star Conor McGregor for example, who has reportedly cut more than 25 pounds in eight days’ time. 25 pounds!!!!
We can only imagine the amount of water these dudes drink after games!
Chabot is in the midst of a Norris caliber season so it really doesn’t need to change a thing about his game right now. It’s just a friendly reminder how hard hockey players work on the ice.
