Hockey fans have had their excitement for the Olympics drained with years of speculation resulting in the NHL eventually failing to reach an agreement to send their players this year.
Over the past couple of weeks, we’ve started to see more and more reasons to watch. Without knowing the rosters, it’s hard to feel any kind of connection to teams that you know won’t be the best. However, stories begin to emerge as the tournament draws closer and one of the biggest ones will be something that was just revealed on Team Sweden’s roster.
You may notice a name on defence that is particularly intriguing.
That is 17-year-old Rasmus Dahlin that will be competing for Team Sweden. Time and time again in the past couple of months, he’s shown that he is at another level for his age and definitely deserves a shot on this stage. When you consider that Cale Makar turned down the opportunity, it seemed obvious that Dahlin may get a shot and he accepted.
That has hockey fans more excited than ever for the tournament, as it is a rare opportunity to watch the projected number 1 overall pick play in a highly competitive men’s tournament before he is drafted. There is no doubt that fans rooting for their team to win the lottery will be keeping an especially close eye.
