The country of Canada (other than Vancouver) is experiencing a true Canadian winter right now, and while the climate can provide for some bone-chilling conditions, it allows for a great photos and videos of outdoor hockey rinks.
While we do appreciate a great backyard outdoor rink or arena, there’s nothing that matches the tranquility and natural beauty of a frozen lake that can be used as an outdoor rink.
More specifically, when a full lake freezes over, and has no snow on top of it, it basically looks like one is skating on top of glass, and it provides some stunning moments.
Over in Windermere Lake, British Columbia, one man recorded some fantastic footage and photos of himself skating on the lake that will make your jaw drop and instantly shot a rush of jealousy through your body.
According to Daily Hive Calgary, Larry Halverson’s skates have cut through the frozen Lake Windermere for the past 45 years, but he’s never encountered such a pretty spectacle.
Have a watch for yourself.
Some of the pictures are simply mind-blowing.
Check out the methane bubbles stuck in the ice.
Heck, even bird poo looks cool on the glass-like surface.
Fantastic stuff. As always, if you have any unreal footage of you or friends skating outdoors, tweet at us @BarDown, or slide into our DM on Instagram @TSN_Official.
