The Vegas Golden Knights immediate success has triggered a major interest from people all around Las Vegas, which has suddenly caused some logistical issues for the team.
Fans had begun flooding the practice arena and player parking lots to try to get autographs and photos.
It has reportedly become a safety concern for the team so they’ve decided to introduce some new rules. This stems from something that most teams struggle with which is adults who try to get bulk amounts of signatures from the athletes that they can re-sell later. At times they can be a little bit pushier than kids and Knights president Kerry Bubolz explained that they were even getting pushy with the kids (Via the Las Vegas Review-Journal):
“What I saw, honestly, I saw adults at times pushing kids out of the way, and that’s just not how we’re wired…
On the exterior of the building we had to change that process too. Guys were stopping, as they always do, and it was creating a safety hazard. We saw kids running into the street and we just couldn’t have an incident like that take place so we had to change that process as well.”
So, not only have they restricted autograph signing to a specific location, but they have put an age-limit on the people allowed to enter. Only kids 14 and under are allowed to get autographs.
It seems like the majority of people online are in favour of the new rules, but obviously there is some push back from others.
