The Bouchard-Sharapova rivalry is most definitely still on.
Monday, Genie Bouchard and Maria Sharapova faced off for the first time since the Canadian called the Russian tennis star a "cheater" during an interview back in April when addressing her return from suspension.
The second round match went three full sets, with Bouchard coming out on top 7-5, 2-6, 6-4 to advance to the third round. The handshake at the end of the match was pretty much as awkward as you would have expected.
Things only got more awkward after the match, as Bouchard issued yet another barb when she was asked about what the two said to one another during their handshake. Bouchard also went on to claim that "people in the tennis world" were rooting for her to defeat Sharapova.
We absolutely cannot wait for the rematch!
