The Toronto Maple Leafs and Vegas Golden Knights made a deal on Tuesday evening that sent David Clarkson and 2020 fourth round draft pick to Toronto in exchange for goalie Garret Sparks.

He’s back.

A lot of fans were confused by the move since Clarkson hasn’t suited up in an NHL game in three years, but that wasn’t the only part of the deal that confused them. The Leafs are currently trying to figure out their back-up goalie situation, so for them to trade one of the guys competing for the job in exchange for someone who will be placed on long-term injured reserve was a little puzzling to some people. Shortly after the deal was announced the newest member of the Golden Knights shared this cryptic tweet.

Perhaps it was just a coincidence that the 26-year-old netminder shared this tweet shortly after the deal went through, but the fact that he used Drake’s ‘Miss Me’ off of ‘Thank Me Later’ and captioned the post “Do Right And Kill Everything” seems like he knew exactly what he was doing when he hit the send button.

Sparks suited up in 37 games for the Maple Leafs and went 14-18-2 with two shutouts and a 3.09 goals against average in those appearances, but played a major role in the Toronto Marlies’ success over the past three years as he went 66-22-4 with 14 shutouts and a 2.09 goals against average.
