Pittsburgh Penguins fans experienced something on Thursday night that they probably never thought they’d ever witness, Marc-Andre Fleury in between the pipes for someone other than the Penguins.

However, that didn’t stop them from showing him some love.

For the first time in franchise history the Vegas Golden Knights played host to the Pittsburgh Penguins and they made sure the former Penguin got the start against his former team.

As the starting lineups were introduced before the game, both Penguins fans and Golden Knights fans teamed up to give Fleury a massive ovation as his name echoed throughout the arena.

Fleury became a fan favourite in Pittsburgh over the years, so it’s no surprise to see so many traveling Penguins fans rocking the No. 29 in his honour.

Before the game he also shared a special moment with former teammate Matt Murray, who learned a lot under Fleury’s wing when he was in Pittsburgh.

Fleury was selected first overall by the Penguins in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft and went on to win three Stanley Cups in his 11 seasons with the team and posted a 375-216-68 record to go with a 2.58 goals against average and a .912 save percentage.
