The Buffalo Sabres have been revealing their Winter Classic jerseys inch by inch over the past couple weeks, but the full reveal has arrived.
It’s been pretty clear what design they were going with for a fair bit because of their teases, and the main change is a throwback to their original colourway. The royal blue is a nice touch, and the jersey is one of the cleanest designs we’ve seen on these new Adidas jerseys.
Fans seem to love the new jersey as well.
With that said, there was one complaint that some fans have had. Their jerseys are already in a similar design to this jersey outside of the colourway, so some fans were hoping for the classic Dominik Hasek-era black and red jerseys. Everybody looks back at the jersey that Hasek, Michael Peca, Miroslav Satan, Daniel Briere and Maxim Afinogenov wore with fond memories.
Even the hero of TFC’s first game against the Columbus Crew, Alex Bono, felt that way. He left the following comment on TSN’s Instagram of the new jersey.
