The Toronto Maple Leafs and Carolina Hurricanes are facing off in an afternoon special on the 100th anniversary of the Leafs’ (Arenas) first ever game.
In honour of this day, which has been named Toronto Maple Leafs day by Toronto Mayor John Tory, the team is wearing throwback uniforms – the only alternate jersey they will wear this season. It’s a modern version of the Toronto Arenas jersey that the team wore 100 years ago and it looks slick.
Fans feel the same way as they finally see this jersey in action.
There aren’t many alternate jerseys this season, so when we get them we should cherish the moment. The only ones we’ll see are in special events like the Winter Classic or any other outdoor game, and other historic moments like today.
