With the conversation around social justice roaring louder than ever, so is the conversation around former NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick. Ever since “Kap” began taking a knee during the American national anthem, the former San Francisco 49ers Super Bowl starter has faced a whirlwind of controversy, and has been unable to land an NFL contract since.

While teams may argue it’s skill based, some of the backup quarterbacks around the league would appear to be objectively worse than Kaepernick. This makes it seem like maybe it’s more of an “avoid the headache” situation.

Even though he doesn’t have an NFL job, and there doesn’t seem to be much in the way of traction for one in the near future, Kap is still an image that represents social justice. According to former teammates Eric Reid, the NFL using Kap in their social justice imagery is “diabolical.”

Reid clearly has Kap’s back, and that is no surprise. On Sunday, Kap tweeted his support of Reid who – in the eyes of Kap – is facing a similar battle with the NFL to his own.

This controversy likely won’t be ending anytime soon.
