Matt Duchene woke up as a member of the Ottawa Senators on Friday morning, but he’ll go to bed as a member of the Columbus Blue Jackets. The 28-year-old was dealt to the Blue Jackets on Friday afternoon and Columbus wasted no time getting him into the lineup as he joined his new teammates in action against his former teammates.
Duchene didn’t end up recording a point against the Ottawa Senators in his Blue Jackets debut, but they did pick up a road victory as they blanked the Sens, 3-0. After the game the team stuck with their post-victory tradition by naming a player of the game and it was awarded to the newest face in the locker room.
The 2009 third overall pick seems to be already fitting in nicely with his new teammates even if he was a little short on words during his speech.
