There's no doubt in our minds that Drake has been a wonderful global ambassador for the Toronto Raptors since 2013.

He's helped grow the game of basketball in Canada and it's been fun seeing him interact with the Raptor players and his friends in the NBA when they come to Toronto to face the Raps.

Oh so close ...

On Wednesday, the Raptors and Drake announced plans to further grow their partnership and the game of basketball in Canada with a new program called 'Welcome Toronto.'

The program starts on January 26th when the Raptors host the Jazz.  There will be six Welcome Toronto-themed games from that date through the rest of the regular season.

Furthermore, under the program Drake and the Raptors will donate $1 million to refurbish local community basketball courts and an additional $2 million to Canada Basketball.

"As this team and Toronto continues to grow, we have seen how much we can do together," Drake said. "Welcome Toronto is about celebrating our team and our city, but also working together to give back to the community and creating a place where the youth of our city can come together to play.

"These same courts could also potentially shape the next generation of Canadian basketball superstars."

Not everyone is a fan of Drake or the Raptors, which is fine, but even if you're not a fan of him and the team, you have to respect his desire to grow the game of basketball in Canada and support this city as much as he can.

Actions speak louder than words and ever since he became the team's global ambassador, Drake has always let his actions speak louder than his words.  This is another brilliant example of that in which basketball fans everywhere will be able to enjoy.
