Even though there’s definitely a bitter taste in the mouths of the Edmonton Oilers this morning after being swept in the first round by the pesky Winnipeg Jets, there’s absolutely some positives to take out of their 2021 season.
While Connor McDavid’s historic regular season is the most obvious one, the progression of defenseman Darnell Nurse is also a huge positive takeaway. This was on full display last night, when he logged a ridiculous 62:07 of ice-time in the seemingly endless contest.
If you’re assuming that Nurse took a 3 day nap after this (as we would have), you’d be wrong.
Unbeknownst to us, Nurse’s wife was in labour DURING the game, and he zoomed to the hospital afterwards for the birth of his first son, Aiden.
Can you imagine a crazier day? We most definitely cannot.
Congrats to the whole Nurse family on their newest addition!
