Cristiano Ronaldo was all smiles after he was presented with his fifth Ballon d’Or award on Thursday night. The award is annually presented by France Football and is given to the best-performing football player. Messi is the only other player to win a Ballon d’Or since 2009.
After winning the trophy, Ronaldo shared a few bold words about his playing career. In an interview with France Football, the Portuguese all-star star claimed that he is the best player in soccer history.
The following is an excerpt from Bleacher Report.
“I’ve never seen anyone better than me. I have always thought that. No footballers can do the things I can. There’s no player more complete than me. I play well with both feet, I’m quick, powerful, good with the head, I score goals, I make assists. There are guys who prefer Neymar or Messi. But I tell you: there’s no one more complete than me.
He then continued with:

“Legends like Floyd Mayweather [Jr.] and LeBron James don’t get to their perfect level by chance. Many factors coincide. To be at the top and to stay there, you have to have more talent than the others."
It’s not exactly the most humble thing to state after winning an award, but it does have merit. Ronaldo has captured four Champions League Titles, was named the best Fifa Men’s Player in 2016 and 17’, and added to his impressive resume with a Euro Cup victory in 2016. With the exception of a World Cup, the guy has essentially done it all.

Not everyone in the soccer world is convinced Cristiano is even the best active player in the world, and people invevtiably took to Twitter in response to the claim.
