The Arizona Coyotes selected Peterborough, Ontario native Barrett Hayton with the fifth overall pick in this year’s NHL Entry Draft and they’re already getting the 18-year-old familiar with his future home.
On Tuesday night, the former Sault Ste. Marie Greyhound was the special guest at the Arizona Diamondbacks and St. Louis Cardinals game where he got to throw out the ceremonial opening pitch.
The pitch ended up being a little high, but at least it was over the plate because we’ve seen some terrible ceremonial first pitches over the past few months.
While Hayton was the only prospect who threw out an opening pitch, he wasn’t alone as the Coyotes brought along plenty of other fresh faces including Cam Dineen, Pierre-Olivier Joseph, Liam Kirk, Dennis Busby, Kevin Bahl, and Nate Schnarr.
The new faces in town seemed to bring some good luck to the home squad as they went on to snap a four-game losing skid with a 4-2 victory.
