While much of the focus has been placed on the other Canadian teams in the league, the Winnipeg Jets have been quietly climbing the standings in the Western Conference.
They now sit second in their conference and with two games in hand on the leading St. Louis Blues, the Jets could tie for the lead with a couple wins. Of course, they’re feeling pretty good at the moment, which means they’re able to have a little more fun as a team and Dustin Byfuglien loves to have some fun.
Last night, after a big win over the Philadelphia Flyers, the team was going through the handshake line and Byfuglien played a little prank on Hellebuyck.
The Jets are already starting to become a strong team in the West and with most of their core under 30, they should be great for a long time. Patrik Laine (8 points in his last 7 games) and the rest of their forwards are starting to heat up, so watch out Western Conference.
If they continue at this pace, perhaps they could complete The Hockey News prophecy a year early.
