'Tis the season for outdoor hockey and not just in backyards. Last weekend, the Senators and Canadiens battled in the first outdoor game of the NHL season in Ottawa.
The next outdoor NHL game will be in 2018 as the Sabres and Rangers square of at Citi Field. Aside from the awesome jerseys for the game, we love seeing what the goalies will be wearing, and earlier this week Henrik Lundqvist showed off his awesome pads for the game.
Friday, another goalie gave the world a glimpse of his pads, but this goalie doesn't play for the Rangers and his pads are equally as amazing.
Can't say we've seen anything like these pads before and that's part of the reason we love games like the Winter Classic. They allow goalies to be creative with their gear, and Chad Johnson took full advantage of that.
Now, if Robin Lehner decides to do the same, we're in for a treat based on the mask he wore in practice.
