The St. Louis Cardinals and the Pittsburgh Pirates have gone head-to-head more than 2,000 times, so it’s safe to say there’s a bit of a rivalry between the two NL Central clubs.
On Wednesday night, the Cardinals scored nine runs in the second inning and four more in the fourth inning as they eventually defeated the Pirates, 14-8, on the road, and the home crowd went home a little more upset than they normally would after a loss.
Despite already leading 11-4 in the top of the fourth inning, Cardinals utility man Yairo Muñoz was still giving it his all and wanted to pad his stats.
The 24-year-old decided to snag a couple of bases during the at-bat and Pirates announcers Greg Brown and Bob Walk, as well as the hometown crowd, were extremely unhappy with his moves. However, just because it’s an unwritten rule doesn’t mean he has to follow it if the defenders aren’t paying attention and he wants to try to showcase his skills.
You never know what can happen in sports so might as well score every possible point when you can.
