Canada’s women’s hockey team earned its first win in their Rivalry Series against the Americans thanks to some overtime heroics from Victoria Bach.

With the teams tied at 2s, and less than two minutes remaining in the extra frame, Bach put home a backhander off of a beauty dish from Blayre Turnbull on a 2-on-1. Victoria’s Save-On-Foods Arena erupted as #51 took care of business on home soil.

A MUCH needed win for the Canucks.

Canada trailed in the third period but managed to even up the scoring off of a Brigette Lacquette wrister on the power-player. Brianna Jenner also scored on a ridiculous short-handed goal for Canada, while the Americans received scoring from Hilary Knight and Savannah Harmon. Both Nicole Hensley and Ann-Renee Desbiens each stopped 20 shots in the four periods.
