The Regina Pats have been one of the hottest teams in the Western Hockey League as of late as they entered Wednesday night’s game against the Prince Albert Raiders on a five-game winning streak.
The Pats went into the final frame down 2-1, but thanks to a shorthanded goal from Cameron Hebig late in the third period they managed to force the game into overtime. After the two teams went scoreless in the extra frame they headed to the shootout and that’s where Jesse Gabrielle extended his team’s win streak to six games with his best Nikita Kucherov impression.
The goal ended up being the lone goal between the two teams in the shootout but it was a sweet one.
Gabrielle was drafted in the fourth round of the 2015 NHL Entry Draft by the Boston Bruins and has 13 goals and six assists for 19 points in 25 games with the Pats this season, but he also spent some time in the AHL with the Providence Bruins where he recorded one goal and three assists for four points in 21 games.
