The hockey world – like many other parts of the world – is trying to navigate through unchartered waters regarding the COVID-19 pandemic. As a result, the NHL has had to postpone a number of games in an effort to subdue the spread of the virus.

While necessary health and safety measures are important to be taken, the fallout has been dramatic. Recently, the NHL announced that they would not be sending players to the Beijing 2022 Olympics in order to make up for the time they’ve lost from postponements.

NHL players have spoken out about the decision, but no response has been quite as strongly worded as the one we got from Boston Bruins star Brad Marchand on Tuesday.

Marchand calls out the hypocrisy of amending agreements to implement taxi squads in the hopes that less games will need to be postponed, but not using taxi squads to allow NHLers to play in the Olympics. While Marchand has long been one of the most polarizing players in the league, his statement is gaining a lot of support.
