Now that a huge percentage of the youth registering for minor hockey are girls, it’s definitely a little weird that the only custom sticks available to the public are those of prominent NHL players when there’s so many impressive pro women's hockey players out there.
It begs the question: where are the women at?!
Up and coming hockey brand, Verbero, has found an answer to the question, and they’ve partnered with Blake Bolden to make it happen.
Bolden, who’s with the PWHPA now, became the first Black woman to play pro hockey when she laced up for the CWHL and NWHL. Then, she became the first Black woman to be an NHL scout when she joined the LA Kings back in 2020.
Now, she’s the first woman to have her own signature stick.
Unreal! Bolden teased the stick back in January, and you can take a look at it here.
Amazing. They’re available for purchase now with her signature ‘Be Bold’ slogan, and we can’t wait to see more women getting their own signature twigs very soon.
