Bianca Andreescu is just one more win away from taking her breathtaking rise to new heights. After defeating Belinda Bencic in the US Open semifinal, Andreescu becomes the first Canadian player to ever reach the tournament’s final, and a rematch against Serena Williams is the last obstacle in the way of the 19-year-old’s first ever Grand Slam win.

Andreescu has been visualizing this for years, as tennis reporter Ben Rothenberg reveals with corroboration from ESPN. Since she was 15 years old, she has written a cheque to herself for the amount of the US Open winner’s prize money, and to this day, she’s still keeping in tradition.

She might finally cash out soon.

Before going pro, Andreescu was a force on the junior circuit, so it’s no surprise that she was setting some lofty goals even then. Hopefully, it all comes to fruition for her — she definitely has the support of an entire country behind her.

It’s incredible for someone so young to be so good already, but to put things into proper context, Andreescu hadn’t even been born yet when Serena won her first Grand Slam at the 1999 US Open.

It would be poetic if she could complete her come-up against one of the greatest to ever do it, and for Andreescu, just getting to this point is already a dream come true. With any luck, she can fulfill another one and deposit that cheque.
