The Washington Capitals are already enjoying their deepest playoff run during the Alex Ovechkin era and there’s still time to add to it as they find themselves one win away from advancing to the Stanley Cup final.
Since this is the furthest the team has gone since the 1997-98 season they’ve managed to create some new playoff rituals along the way. One of the new team traditions we saw come to light earlier this postseason is the hot lap required from Alex Ovechkin before the team starts its practice. Well, since they lost their last road game they switched it up ahead of their practice ahead of Game 7.
Instead of having the captain get the day started, head coach Barry Trotz decided to show his players how it’s done ahead of their biggest game of the year.
He didn’t finish the lap nearly as fast as Ovi did but he still got a nice ovation from his players.
It's do or die. Who are you taking?
