After breaking through into stardom last season and especially during the Miami Heat’s surprising run to the NBA Finals, Bam Adebayo got paid this offseason with a max contract extension worth at least $163 million.
The first thing Adebayo did after signing his extension was to gift his mother, who worked multiple jobs to raise him alone in their trailer home, with a house of her own. Now, for Christmas, Adebayo is extending the support to Travillia Bogan, a single mother of four facing eviction, by covering a year of the family’s rent.
“They’re not getting evicted for Christmas,” says Adebayo.
Adebayo’s family and upcoming has been a significant part of his story, and he’s described his mother as a motivator in his career many times over. It’s great to see that he’s looking out for her as well as others in similar life situations, having experienced similar in his own childhood.
