We’re just a few sleeps away from the start of the 2019 World Junior Ice Hockey Championships but the teams are already putting in work during the pre-competition play.
On Friday night, Team Canada went head-to-head against Slovakia and the hosts jumped out to a massive lead in the opening period of play. Already leading 3-0 early on, Canada made it a four-goal game shortly after thanks to some beautiful hand-eye coordination from Colorado Avalanche prospect Shane Bowers.
According to TSN’s Mark Masters, Bowers played lacrosse growing up so that shows why he was able to smack the puck into the net with ease.
Bowers was drafted 28th overall by the Ottawa Senators in the 2017 NHL Entry Draft but was traded to the Colorado Avalanche as part of the blockbuster deal that sent Matt Duchene to the Sens.
