The NHL and many other leagues around the world followed the NBA on Thursday and officially suspended the current season until further notice due to the coronavirus outbreak.
Sports fans everywhere are certainly bummed about these decisions, but everyone understands that this whole thing is bigger than sports and we need to do what’s best for everyone’s health and safety moving forward.
On Thursday afternoon, an Oilers fan left a message for the team on the Wayne Gretzky statue outside the arena, thanking them for a fun season.
Sports will be missed for a little while, but they’ll be there waiting for us when all of this comes to an end.
