Few active NBA players shared a relationship with Kobe quite like Vince Carter.
Only one year and a half separated the two superstars in age, which allowed them to grow together in the league for more than two decades. Bryant was drafted in 96’, two years prior to Carter (fifth overall in 98’), so the two built their share of memories in the NBA. On Sunday, which happened to be Carter’s 43rd birthday, Kobe along with eight others were pronounced dead from a helicopter crash. Carter had a chance to speak with the media about his old friend and shared his favourite Black Mamba memory from their time in the league together.
It came from their final matchup.
Heavy stuff.
Carter previously took to Twitter to discuss Kobe’s passing. Similar to his press conference, VC15 touched on Kobe’s love for his family.
And Carter of course is just one of just a sea of athletes to show their love for Kobe. The support for both Bryant, his family, and the victims has been incredible.
Mamba forever.
