In the last two years, there has been a lot of hype about Connor McDavid and Wayne Gretzky rookie cards, but lost in that hype is the value of Sidney Crosby cards.
Crosby will likely go down as the greatest player of his generation, so obviously his card is pretty valuable too. Modern trading cards are considered to be any card printed after 1986 by PWCC and Sidney Crosby’s rookie card has now set a new record.
Cards are worth what someone will pay for them and the previous highest was McDavid’s card that sold for $55,655 US in June of 2018. Now, Crosby’s has sold for over $80K US, which is currently over $100,000 Canadian.
It’s about time Sidney Crosby got some respect in the trading card world, but we doubt anyone will ever reach the heights of Gretzky’s rookie card, which sold for $465,000 US in 2016.
Even Bobby Orr’s card will be hard to match because of how differently cards are printed in the modern era.
Now imagine you actually received one of those in a pack…
