When you go to an NHL hockey game, you’re going for more than just the game itself. Sure, it’s amazing to watch the best players in the world go toe-to-toe right in front of your eyes, but you’ve also got the atmosphere, the mascots, and the other aspects of entertainment that you don’t get to experience at home.

When it comes to one of those aspects – the Mites game that features tiny hockey players showing off what they got on the big stage – fans got a little glimpse into that with a special, colourful, unexpected twist to it. A mascot directed, first-person glimpse.

It was all very impromptu. When a GoPro came tumbling off one of the Mites’ helmets, Buffalo Sabres mascot Sabretooth took full advantage.

You may be wondering what the heck is happening. Why are there so many mascots? They aren’t even all hockey?

Believe it or not, this isn’t an All-Star game. This ridiculous video was taken last Saturday when the Washington Capitals hosted the Buffalo Sabres, beating them 4-3. It appears to be some sort of special event, as there are mascots from organizations including the Orioles, the Stars, the Lightning, the Hershey Bears, and of course the Sabres and Caps

One Reddit user says that they’ve seen this before, where a bunch of off-duty mascots stopped by a St. Louis Blues game to celebrate Louie’s birthday (the Blues’ mascot)

A mascot birthday party? Count us in.
