For the first time in team history, Toronto FC is on top of the MLS world.
The Reds managed to defeat the Seattle Sounders 2-0 in a rematch of last year’s MLS Cup. Jozy Altidore opened the scoring before Victor Vazquez sealed the deal with a goal in extra time. BMO field erupted as the final whistle was blown to conclude the match.
TFC players huddled together and celebrated the victory in incredible fashion afterwards. As they jumped up and down, they noticed that one of the members of the group was not donning a soccer uniform. That's because a fan actually managed to run onto the field and join the players in action. After a good five seconds of participating in the scrum, security caught the individual and leaped on him in an effort to separate him from the players.
A moment the fan will truly never forget.
The players took to the stage after and performed the annual trophy lift. Unfortunately for the fan, there was no way he was going to be apart of that one.
Altidore was later named the game’s most valuable player and fans took to social media to congratulate both him and his Reds teammates.
The city of Toronto is in for a an epic party tonight, and hopefully its field-storming fan can still be a part of the action, too.
