There are no holidays in the sports world.

In fact, holidays are some of the biggest days of the year in the sports world, like Christmas Day, for example.  The NBA saves marquee games for Christmas Day and they always feature the biggest stars.

As much as the players want that day off to spend with their families, it's become a fun tradition for the fans and the league.  The NHL, however, doesn't follow suit as there are no games on Christmas Day.

Hypothetically speaking, though, if there were NHL games on Christmas Day, which matchups would you like to see?  While you ponder that question, here are five games we'd love to see on Christmas Day if the NHL went the same route as the NBA:

Islanders vs. Leafs

The perfect scenario would be for this game to be John Tavares' return to Long Island.  Need we say more?

Capitals vs. Penguins

Ever since Alex Ovechkin and Sidney Crosby entered the league, they've been rivals.  The playoff history between the two future Hall of Famers and their teams makes any meeting between the Caps and Pens must-watch.

Oilers vs. Sabres

Edmonton versus Buffalo, otherwise known as Connor McDavid versus Jack Eichel, the top two picks from the 2015 draft.

Predators vs. Jets

The series between these two teams last season was insane last season and these two teams could be battling one another for the Western Conference crown for years to come.

Canadiens vs. Bruins

A rivalry as old as the sport itself deserves the Christmas Day spotlight.
