After the news of Detroit Tigers and Red Wings owner Mike Ilitch's passing Friday evening, memories and condolences poured in from the sports world.

Ilitch, who purchased the Tigers in 1982 and Red Wings in 1992, has been involved in the sports world for a long time, and anyone that had the pleasure of meeting him even once got to the chance to see what an incredible human being he was.

With so many happy memories being shared on social media, fans who never met Ilitch got a glimpse of what he meant to his players and the city of Detroit.

That being said, there was one memory in particular that stood about the rest to display just how incredible of a person Ilitch was.

Free Press Sports Writer Anthony Fenech shared a letter Ilitch wrote back to him when he was four years old and wanted to be a hockey player.  Take a look:

The fact that Ilitch took the time to even write the letter back to Anthony shows what kind of person he was.

The sports world clearly lost another great one, but he'll always be with us through memories like Anthony's.
