Usually people that throw at the first pitch at baseball games are celebrities or athletes from other sports, and for the most part they hold their own on the mound.
Last Tuesday, though, Oklahoma softball pitcher Paige Parker showed the Kansas City Royals what a lot of people already know, she's an absolutely incredible pitcher and person.
Parker was instrumental in helping Oklahoma win the Women's College World Series and before throwing the first pitch, she wowed the Royals with her wicked arm warming up.
Drew Butera, a catcher for the Royals, was the one behind the plate catching Parker's warmup pitches and one of them pretty much knocked him over.
At first, Paige was just warmed up, but as per Sooner Sports, the Royals wanted to see her arsenal of pitches and she delivered:
βSome of their reactions were really cool, so that's something I won't ever forget,β she said. βThey were pretty shocked about how much my ball moved. I think they were especially fascinated by my rise ball because they never see that. They had some pretty funny reactions. Drew had a hard time catching some of my rise balls, which was pretty funny.β
Safe to say it was an incredible day for Parker, who got to meet her favourite player, Eric Hosmer.
Paige will have to be a key contributor again if Oklahoma wants to defend the title next season. Parker finished her junior year with 1.43 ERA and 262 strikeouts.
