The San Jose Sharks are one of the busiest teams in all of sports when it comes to community initiatives. Whether it’s a current member of the team or someone who’s part of the Sharks Alumni, they’re always finding different ways to give back to the community that’s supported them since their inaugural season.

This past Monday, former San Jose Sharks captain Owen Nolan and defenceman Scott Hannan teamed up with Terrell Owens and other Bay Area athletes for a charitable GoKart race benefitting the SEAL Legacy Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to providing support to families of wounded and fallen US Navy SEALs.

Aside from the former members of the Sharks and Terrell Owens, other athletes included former 49ers Tom Rathman and Tim McDonald, former MLB players JT Snow and Dave Stewart, 12-time Olympic medalist Natalie Coughlin, current American IndyCar Series racers J.R. Hildebrand and Alexander Rossi, and American IndyCar Lights Series racers Colton Herta, Jack Harvey Neil Alberico.

The team of Terrell Owens and Alexander Rossi ended up taking home the top prize in the race.

It’s always nice to see athletes come together to raise money for a charitable cause, especially when they change things up and make it fun like this.
