World Junior Hockey Championship season is a festive one for hockey fans and it arrives tonight. Okay, not the official beginning of the season, but the pre-tournament games kickoff with Canada vs. the reigning gold medalist Finns.
So, on the morning of their first game, they announced their captain and alternate captains: Dylan Strome (C), Mathew Barzal (A) and Thomas Chabot (A).
It’s a special moment for these young players and Hockey Canada released behind-the-scenes footage of the entire team finding out about the team’s decision.
It’s a pretty rare honour to be the captain of a World Junior team and this is a moment these kids will remember forever. Also, it’s hilarious that as the announcement is being made, several of the players are just browsing their phones. Kids these days…
Watch tonight on TSN2 as the Strome leads the Canadians into battle against the Finns.
