Chicago Blackhawks 2016 2nd round draft pick Alex DeBrincat is doing everything he can to prove that he belongs in the NHL.

At 5’6, the 39th overall pick was never one to really scrap for the Ontario Hockey League’s Erie Otters. Instead, he earned a reputation for being one of the league’s strongest snipers. But at a certain point, every pro hockey player has to show in one way or another that he’s tough enough to play with the big boys.

During a game against his team’s original six rival Detroit Red Wings, The 19-year-old threw down with 6’1 Detroit Red Wings prospect Dylan Sadowy. As you’ll see, the petite DeBrincat actually held his own.

Kind of looked like a David vs. Goliath battle didn’t it? Pretty impressive given his inferior size.

Later in the game, the American scored the game-winning goal in a 2-0 Chicago victory.

That’s the DeBrincat hockey fans are used to seeing.

While we don’t anticipate the guy to throw fists very often in his career, it’s always nice to see the little guy hold his own in a heavy-weight tilt.
