The animosity between these two players goes back to the 2014 playoffs when Bryce Harper hit two bombs off of Strickland.

Clearly, the pitcher took exception to something Harper did after he hit the homers and he retaliated in their most recent meeting.

Tuesday, both players were handed suspensions for their roles in the brawl and both are appealing said suspensions.

Here's the statement from MLB on what transpired:

Now, fans might look at the suspensions and think that they are pretty fair, but Harper easily got the short end of the stick in this situation, and this tweet perfectly explains why:

Add in the fact that Strickland wouldn't have been suspended at all if Harper didn't charge the mound and Harper and the Nationals have even more of a reason to be upset about the number of games that were given out.

While Strickland got more games, he really didn't when you break it down, and if Harper decided to just go to first, Strickland wouldn't have been suspended which is the biggest atrocity of this whole situation.

While both players can play until their appeals are sorted out, we imagine they'll be suspended in some capacity when it's all said and done.
