There aren't many baseball players who can say they played in Major League Baseball over the span of four different decades, but Tim Raines is one of those few players. Selected in the fifth round of the 1977 MLB draft by the Montreal Expos, Raines went on to play in the big league from 1979-2002, when he retired at the age of 42.

Despite being regarded as one of the best leadoff hitters and baserunners in the history of the game, the seven-time All-Star and four-time stolen base champion is still waiting to get inducted into the Hall of Fame. However, his time is running out as this year happens to be his final year on the ballot.

With that being said, here are a more than a few reasons why Raines deserves a spot in Cooperstown.
