Nico Hischier, the first overall pick in the NHL Draft, had a hockey card from his childhood that will match his first hockey card in the NHL.
The Switzerland native was chosen first overall in tonight’s NHL Entry Draft, after starting outside the top 10 on many lists. A massive World Juniors propelled him to the top and it clearly won’t disappoint him if this childhood photo is any indication.
Of course, this isn’t the first time something like this has happened.
We’ve seen players like James Van Reimsdyk post photos of himself wearing his current team’s gear as well.
Even on the devils team themselves, we’ve seen some other childhood proficeys come true. Earlier this year Miles Wood had an opportunity to take out his promised vengeance on Ovechkin. Although, he chose not to follow through on it.
