There have been a lot of great locations for hockey rinks in the past couple of years, but this latest Winter Classic in the Austrian Hockey League might be the best.
Molson Canadian has been putting rinks on top of buildings and among the mountains and recently we even saw an ODR on the Eiffel Tower. This one however is going medieval. EC Red Bull Salzburg and Fehérvár AV19 faced off in the league’s Winter Classic game in Budapest, and they did so in front of a massive castle.
It’s hard to beat the rink in the middle of the mountains for views, but this one gets bonus points for holding an actual organized game.
The Castle is in the middle of a park in Budapest called Városliget. There is a rink there that has held hockey games in the past, as pointed out by Reddit user, BenjiBP, but that’s not all. The castle has been the backdrop for other sporting events, creating other epic photos like this one.
The Winter Classic in this league is actually a three day event, and there will be another game today and tomorrow. Hopefully we get some more views like this one.
