Being a hockey parent can be stressful, but being a goalie's parent seems ten times more taxing.
When your son or daughter isn't the best skater at a young age, the coach can sometimes suggest a move to goalie. The goaltender might be less likely to get injured staying in the net, but when everything starts to go wrong on the ice, the goalie is the first to blame. This puts a lot of pressure on both the goalie, and their parents in the stands. It can be hard to even watch the games when every shot a son or daughter takes can be turned into criticism.
Our BarDown Toonz cartoonist, Pengellyink, hilariously depicts what it must feel like to be a goalie parent in this new drawing.
We don't envy goalie parents. The anxiety they must feel every time their son or daughter is on the ice must be unbearable.
