Referees can be a bit irritating sometimes, but most of them mean well.

Theyโ€™re just trying to do their job โ€“ a tough job โ€“ and somebody is always going to be unhappy with the outcome. Apparently 18-year-old, Cole Trevor Crane, was very unhappy with this ref, because while he was playing in his AA midget championship, he absolutely lost it on him.

All this ref was doing was breaking up a fight that Crane was already involved in and escorting him off the ice. Then, this happened.

According to the Guardian, he was sentenced to 30 days in jail and probation for 18 months for this attack. In addition, he has to write an apology to the ref and avoid any contact with him in the future. The judge was pretty clear in their decision:

โ€œThe number one rule is you never, ever, ever touch an official.โ€™โ€™

Canโ€™t argue with that โ€“ respect your referees everyone. Otherwise, itโ€™s 30 days for FIGHTING.
