There is always a loser in sports and there’s always a winner – that’s how competition works.
Of course, there are several degrees of emotion that can be involved in the game and one of the most polarizing ways to end a game is in overtime. Sudden death games also offer sudden joy for the winners. There is no better example of that than in the video below.
Michigan Tech defeated Bowling Green in double overtime to win the WCHA conference championship. This view of the end of the game perfectly captures the highs and lows on each team.
Also in that clip is the near disaster as a group of jumping people with blades on their feet gets closer and closer to the player lying on the ground. We’re happy nobody was physically hurt, but you can see just how devastated the team that lost was.
It starts out as depressing, but it ends with a celebration – capturing both sides the whole point of playing these silly games in the first place. It’s a roller coaster of emotion.
