As of Wednesday March 1st, the Vegas Golden Knights were officially allowed to make player transactions.

As exciting as that it, there are some rules that go along with it, one of which being the team can't make deals for players actively on NHL rosters.

Vegas can, however, make deals to sign amateur (CHL, NCAA) players who's rights aren't owned by another NHL team.

On Monday, the Golden Knights made their first player transaction in team history by signing Canadian Reid Duke of the Brandon Wheat Kings.

The contract for Duke is a three year entry level deal and he's expected to join the team for its inaugural development camp this summer.

As per the Golden Knights, the team has had their eyes on Duke since last September:

"Obviously, I have a connection to Reid, an affiliation with Reid," McCrimmon said. "But Reid's a player that was identified by (Director of Player Development) Wil Nichol. Wil was really the guy that was eager to continue evaluating Reid over the course of the season."

We imagine the Golden Knights are very excited about making their first player transaction in team history, and the internet is, too.
