Jose Bautista doesn’t get many opportunities to pitch, so his opponent (The Oakland A’s mascot) made sure to get in his shots when he could.
Jose Bautista was joking around with Stomper before the game yesterday, and the elephant asked him to fake pitch a ball to him. Well, clearly Bautista threw an imaginary meatball, because the mascot acted as if he tree-trunked the pitch into the upper bowl. Bautista, perhaps showing other pitchers a thing or two about how to handle getting bested, seemed to enjoy the bat flip himself.
Bautista will probably have his picture next to the phrase “Bat flip” in the baseball dictionary someday, after countless stories have come out of his emphatic home run celebrations.
Maybe if everybody just dressed in mascot costumes all the time, we would be able to see how silly it is to get upset about a game created purely for entertainment. Although, probably not. Clearly not everybody is disarmed by the playful charisma of the team representatives.
Just don’t get involved with Mr. Met, that guys bad to the bone.
