Although they only wore them in warm-ups, the Tampa Bay Lightning’s inaugural logo and uniforms were displayed in full force on Saturday night and they looked amazing, as the team honoured their 25th season in the league and saluted members of the original team.
The NHL prohibits teams from wearing their alternative or throwback jerseys this season in what is the first year of the Adidas sponsorship deal.
20 members of the inaugural Lightning squad from the 1992-93 season were on hand for the game, as well as the team’s original management team and broadcast crew. Phil Esposito was the general manager of the Lightning team from 24 seasons ago, while his brother Tony was the director of hockey operations.
All in favour of the Lightning to go back to their original jerseys?
