Going into Tuesday night’s game between the Toronto Maple Leafs and Florida Panthers, Leafs’ rookie Auston Matthews needed one goal to set a new Maple Leafs’ rookie goals record. The rookie wasted no time at all breaking the record, netting his 35th goal of the season in the first period to pass the record him and Wendel Clark shared before the goal.
