Adeke says he was hoping to get under 4.5

The 2017 CFL is underway and prospects have begun showcasing their athleticism to the CFL’s nine teams. The Bench Press, vertical jump, and broad jump are all great measurements of potential, however, most football fans would likely agree that there is not a more fun event to consume than the infamous 40-yard dash.

This year, former Carleton University defensive back Tunde Adeleke proved to be the fastest prospect at the 2017 combine with a time of 4.58.

Campbell blazed his way to a 4.36 combine before being selected by the Calgary stampeders. The Scarborough, Ontario native played CIS ball at the University of Regina, and now plays defensive back for the Saskatchewan Roughriders.

Lee played the majority of his career as a backup running back and special teamer with the Lions, but is still one of the fastest players in CFL history. In 2009, he posted a 4.39 time, which ties him for third in history. Lee is the second player on the list to come from Bishop's University program.

T-3) Shaquille Johnson- B.C. Lions 2016, 32nd overall pick

Johnson recorded the fastest time of all the 2016 prospects with a Toronto regional time of 4.39. He was also born in Brampton and played for the Western Mustangs before entering the CFL.

T-5) Shaquille Murray-Lawrence- B.C. Lions 2015, 23rd overall pick

Lawrence is the only player on the list who played at an American University. Prior to being selected by the B.C. Lions in 2015, Murray-Lawrence played for the UNLV Gamblers. At the combine, the running back posted a solid 4.41 sprint.

T-5) Jean-Frederic Tremblay- Toronto Argonauts 2004, 7th overall pick

Tremblay became the fastest player in CFL history after recording a time of 4.41. The Laval product’s record was ultimately broken by Lee in the 2009 draft.

We’ll have to wait until 2018 to see whether a new player will be crowned as the fastest player in CFL history, but until then, Turner can sit tight and know that he holds the title for another year.
